Smile Together expanding in Saltash
Works began last week at Keast Mews in Saltash where Smile Together are investing in a new contemporary private dental practice for Saltash. The duration of the works will be from August 2022 to early 2023 after which we plan to be open to patients.
As Jonathan Bouwer-Davies, Smile Together Dental Director, explains: “We currently practice from Saltash Community Centre on Callington Road but are overwhelmed with demand from local people wishing to access our routine and specialist dental treatments. We’ve long recognised the need for expanding our service provision locally with additional dental surgeries, high-tech equipment and more experienced clinicians and have been working hard to achieve this. Keast Mews represents a perfect location for us, located just off the high street with parking and public transport connections close by”.
Smile Together is an award-winning dental company with a difference. As a certified B Corp and employee-owned community interest company, our mission is to tackle oral health inequality for healthier happier communities. In Saltash our Brighter Smiles oral health team visit Brunel Primary Academy, St Stephens Community Primary School and Flying Start Nursery delivering toothbrushing clubs, fluoride varnish and oral health education for the children. Our Smiles at Sea campaign sees our team visiting harboursides across Cornwall and Devon to provide dental treatments and oral health advice to fishermen who rarely get the chance to visit a dentist due to the demands of their work, and our teams frequently reach further into their local communities, partnering with local charities and doing what they can to improve oral health outcomes. Our Saltash team have already donated almost 400 oral health packs to local families across South East Cornwall via the social prescriber team.
This partnership ethos extends to the contracting team for Keast Mews with Mace Green building consultants, 3iDog interior design and DecaDent Ltd having worked on our development of a brand new accessible dental centre in Bodmin which opened in 2019. Since then 3iDog and DecaDent have generously become financial supporters of Brighter Smiles in local school communities. Other contractors on the Keast Mews development include TEC Construction and Hulley and Kirkwood for ventilation and power system design.
