We proudly attended the prestigious BDA Conference and Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th May 2023, hot on the heels of the BDIA Dental Showcase at London ExCel in March.

Our vibrant stand H79 was hard to miss with its 7ft surfboard, brightly coloured furniture and Cornish flag bunting, as well as a huge banner showcasing our B Corp certification and iconic beach shoot on Godrevy Beach in Cornwall last year.

We were promoting the uniquely rewarding clinical career opportunities in our employee-owned dental CIC, showcasing the extraordinary environment and work life balance that we enjoy here in Cornwall. A truly authentic showcase using images that were shared with us by our colleagues of the things they enjoy with their friends and family, alongside their work on behalf of our patients, our communities and one another – it was certainly a talking point with all those who visited our stand.

Lots of people bravely competed in our Steady Hand challenge (game of operation) to win some wonderful Cornish goodies including Tarquin’s Gin, a bottle of award-winning Camel Valley sparkling wine, Pentire botanical non-alcoholic gin made by distilling unique plants native to our coastline in Cornwall, and delicious handmade artisan chocolates from Sweet P Confectionery in Bude. We also had fun with National Smile Month smileys!

Despite the train strikes on both days, we were busy throughout and Alison Cane, Outreach and Dental Nurse Development Manager at Smile Together, said: “Thank you to the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show for a wonderful two days. We had a great time connecting with lots of new faces and furthering our relationships with existing companies, as well as bonding as a team! Our Cornish themed stand received lots of attention which was great to see. We also attended some inspiring presentations including from Christina Worle at Den-Tech charity about trauma-informed dentistry. Our team had a brilliant time and thanks to all those who helped behind the scenes to make our stand as eye-catching and fabulous as it was!”

If you didn’t attend the show but are interested in our dentistry opportunities, visit our Careers Portal to find out more, register for our monthly e-newsletter or simply contact us for an informal chat – you never know where that might take you! It couldn’t be a more exciting time to join us and we have some amazing dentist and therapist career opportunities, or perhaps you could be our new Clinical Director of Quality Assurance & Patient Safety!

Every day our teams make a real and sustainable difference to local people and support a range of impactful outreach projects that we run in our local communities. Everything from delivering our Brighter Smiles oral health programme in primary schools and nurseries and visiting harboursides in our mobile dental unit treating fishermen who rarely visit a dentist due to the demands of their work, to supporting Cornwall Health for Homeless pop-ups and donating oral health packs to local charities best positioned to reach those families and individuals most in need across the county. We really do have an amazing team!

Complementing all this, our focus on training and CPD means Smile Together is a great place to work and develop your dental career, utilising your full range of dental skills and experience. See what our colleagues say here!

We’re proud to be employee-owned – a sector which is positively thriving in the UK because co-owned companies tend to be more successful, competitive, profitable and sustainable. Our people are innovative, engaged and committed because we go out of our way to consult, share information about the company and give you responsibility. This, combined with being a community interest company and certified B Corp, means the difference we individually and collectively make is unrivalled.

We’re a very different dental provider with fantastic opportunities for rewarding careers alongside a unique work life balance– you couldn’t be in better company.
