We are really proud to officially publish our 2018 Social Impact Report – a year in which we’ve reinvested more surplus funds and gone even further towards creating healthier, happier communities.

With a focus on how we’re working to prevent tooth decay and reduce health inequalities by reaching and treating even more patients across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, the report also highlights some of the dental issues our teams see in their communities and the impact we are having in addressing these. Our 2018 social impact report includes:

Prevent – 149% increase in local children seen by our Brighter Smiles oral health campaign; a £365,335 saving to the NHS budget through our oral health education and treatments.

Reach – 9,443 patients registered with Brighter Dental (NHS and private); 115 fishermen and family reached.

Treat – £379,611 investment in our clinical environment; 97% satisfaction from NHS Friends & Family Test.

Additionally, we are excited to share news about our plans for a purpose-built dental centre for our community, and give a little insight to our support for local charitable and community initiatives where together we are making even more of a difference.

As we look forward to our third year as an employee-owned social enterprise, we’re proud to demonstrate through this report our continuing progress towards delivering our vision of making Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly healthier and happier.

Our grateful thanks to Iridescent Ideas for their help in developing our new  ‘prevent | reach | treat’ social impact conceptual framework and to Fuel Communications for their creative support in publishing our 2018 social impact report.

We invite you to take a look and let us know if you’d like to get involved in making further impact in 2019.
